\nOn Tuesday at about 9 in the morning, a 60-ish woman stumbled into the caf\u00e9 and stood in front of my work for a brief moment before whirling onto the Kafka’s staff, who were busy with the morning rush, and hollering<\/p>\n

“These guys are 23 years behind the times! Haven’t they heard of Japanese woodblock printing?!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She stormed out. The staff assures us that “she was wasted”.<\/p>\n

I truly wish we’d been there to see that.<\/p>\n

What happened 23 years ago?<\/em><\/p>\n

More constructively, an amazing Vancouver photographer who is known for his mind-bending wide-angle views came to shoot some panoramas of our show last Sunday evening. Heavy Skies<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lifted Condensation Limit<\/strong>: the flat bottom of towering clouds caused by cool temperatures condensing the moisture out of warm, rising air.<\/p>\n

Tadao Ando<\/strong>: self-taught Japanese architect whose designs include spare, angled slabs of unfinished concrete that follow the forms of their surroundings and use light and shadow to create a sense of improbable buoyancy.<\/p>\n

Extruded Polystyrene<\/strong>: \"\" rigid, light-weight foam, often used for non-load-bearing architectural structures. Its closed-cell structure gives an appearance similar to concrete when used in ink-based printmaking.<\/p>\n

Horisusumi<\/strong>: \u5f6b\u9032\u307f \u201cprogressive carving\u201d, a printmaking technique using one block to apply multiple colours to a print, carving away new sections of the block between print runs until nothing remains and no further prints are possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
